Whit Smith Does it Again! MLC Junior Wins Fifth Straight NAIA High Jump Title
Midland Lutheran junior Whit Smith, from Waterloo, Nebraska, won his fifth straight NAIA national championship in the high jump. His latest championship is the 2004 indoor title after he cleared 6-11.5 on Friday at the NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championships in Jackson, Tennessee. Smith also won the indoor titles in 2002 and 2003, and he won the outdoor titles as well in 2002 and 2003.
Smith is coached by jumps coach Justin Horner, while Jim McMahon is the head track and field coach at Midland Lutheran.
