AARON KREPPS SIGNS PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL CONTRACT
Krepps, an American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III and Associated Press Little All-American, becomes the first President to sign as a pro football free agent since Todd Fry ’03 received a contract from the NFL’s Detroit Lions in 2003.
“This is a dream come true for me and I am really excited about the opportunity to showcase my skills,” said Krepps. “I just want to thank my teammates, coaches and family for their support.”
The 6-foot-0, 205-pound wideout finished the 2005 season ranked seventh in the nation in all-purpose yards (176.9 ypg), eighth in punt returns (15.7 ypr), ninth in scoring (11.1 ppg), 23rd in receiving yards (100.0 ypg) and 26th in receptions (6.8 rpg).
He hauled in 75 passes for 1,100 yards and 15 touchdowns. His reception total trailed only Fry as the second-highest single-season total in school history, while his 1,946 all-purpose yards were the fourth highest. Krepps’ 122 points tied him for fifth on the single-season scoring list.
He earned his third consecutive First Team All-PAC selection following the regular season and was a First Team ECAC All-Star and a Second Team All-South Region choice. In 2004, Krepps was honored as the PAC and ECAC Player of the Year.
Krepps finished second in the school’s record books with 181 receptions for 2,788 yards (15.4 ypr). He is the school’s all-time leader in kickoff returns (64), kickoff return yards (1,496), punt returns (76), punt return yards (1,123) and punt return average (14.7 ypr). He also ranks third in W&J history with 49 touchdowns and 296 points.
The Belle Vernon, Pa., native totaled 5,638 career all-purpose yards, including 3,836 during the past two seasons.
The Lions’ rookie camp begins on May 18th.
