Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Stanford, Duke, Maryland, North Carolina Among The Colleges To Benefit From Akamai's Global Streaming Platform

NEW YORK AND CAMBRIDGE, MA, May 3, 2004 - CSTV: College Sports Television (www.collegesports.com), the fastest-growing independent cable network, and Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the global leader in distributed computing solutions and services, have entered into an agreement to create an advanced, on-demand streaming platform for the reliable and high-performing delivery of college sports content. CSTV will deploy Akamai's industry-leading EdgePlatformSM and EdgeSuite content delivery service to enable the Web's most extensive coverage, including streaming audio and video, of college sports.

Akamai will serve as the exclusive content and streaming distribution provider for CollegeSports.com and its network of 150 official athletic sites for colleges, conferences and athletic associations. Colleges whose official athletic sites are produced by CollegeSports.com include Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Stanford, Duke, Maryland and North Carolina. Akamai will provide complete content delivery of CollegeSports.com's interactive multimedia, including streaming audio of college games, press conferences, game highlights, College Sports TV analysis and coaches' shows, as well as streamed, on-demand College Sports TV programming.

CSTV's use of Akamai's services will result in numerous user enhancements for fans visiting the CollegeSports.com sites, including high-quality streaming, site reliability and customization. In addition, CSTV will provide a full suite of tools and resources enabling schools, conferences and athletic associations to maximize exposure for their teams and student-athletes while expanding revenue-producing opportunities.

Other Benefits Include:

Akamai's proprietary content delivery system will allow for customized user experiences based on geography (including ZIP code), college and sports preferences, and bandwidth connection

Fans visiting www.collegesports.com and the 150 official athletic sites will experience much faster connections and better overall site performance as content is distributed closer to each individual user via Akamai's worldwide network of more than 14,000 servers

Personalized content delivery capabilities will open the door to numerous new one-to-one marketing opportunities for the schools, conferences and athletic associations, as well as advertisers to their sites

Akamai's exclusive "Edge" computing technology will allow for the development of new applications that bring fans closer than ever to their favorite teams, and for the enhancement of existing CollegeSports.com features such as CollegeSports.com's exclusive "GameTracker" service for real-time game scores, statistics and play-by-play

"This partnership will enable us to greatly enhance the CollegeSports.com user experience," said Brian Bedol, president and CEO, CSTV. "We will deploy Akamai's leading-edge technology to create new applications that bring fans even closer to their favorite teams. This Akamai agreement is consistent with our goal of aligning with best-of-breed partners to the benefit of fans and our partner institutions."

"CSTV is a leading online source for college sports that has also become a significant marketing, advertising, and revenue-generating outlet for colleges and athletic associations," said Paul Sagan, president of Akamai. "Their use of Akamai for content and streaming delivery is an excellent example of how our on-demand platform can be used to optimize online business and entertainment. We are excited to be a part of bringing content to such a loyal user base - college sports fans."

College Sports TV, the first 24-hour college sports network, is available to more than 20 million homes nationally on cable and satellite. The network is available on Time Warner, Adelphia and Insight cable systems, among others, and is also available on DirecTV (channel 610). For information on CSTV availability in particular markets, consumers can log on to www.collegesports.com or call their cable or satellite operator.

CSTV is comprised of two primary business units: College Sports TV and CollegeSports.com. College Sports TV televises regular season and championship event coverage of more than 30 men's and women's college sports from every major collegiate athletic conference, in addition to nine NCAA Championships. The network also has a programming and marketing agreement with the U.S. Olympic Committee. CollegeSports.com, the most-trafficked college sports Web site, and its network of 150 official athletic sites for top colleges, universities and athletic associations, are the number one online source for college sports news, information, scores and analysis.

CSTV was co-founded by President/CEO Brian Bedol, Chairman Stephen Greenberg and Executive Vice President Chris Bevilacqua. Bedol and Greenberg co-founded Classic Sports Network, which they later sold to ESPN. The network is now ESPN Classic. Bevilacqua is a former senior executive with Nike Inc., where he headed the company's successful foray into the college market.
