SEATTLE SEAHAWKS AND EASTERN WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY SIGN THREE-YEAR CONTRACT FOR THE SEAHAWKS TO HOLD SUMMER TRAINING CAMP AT EWU

CHENEY, Wash. – Eastern Washington University and the Seattle Seahawks today agreed on a three-year contract that will return the Seahawks’ training camp to Eastern for the next three summers.

Seahawks’ training camp 2004 – at which practices will continue to be open to the public at no charge – begins Aug. 2 and will run three to four weeks (the exact end date has not yet been set).

The new contract continues a long-standing relationship between the Seahawks and the University. The team has held summer training camp at Eastern for the past seven summers and also from 1976 to 1985.

“We are very pleased to have the Seahawks coming back to Eastern,” said Dr. Stephen M. Jordan, EWU president. “We think this is good for all of us. We are glad to be able to provide the kind of athletic, information technology and support facilities that a National Football League team needs for a quality summer camp.”

“We’re excited to return and continue this wonderful partnership with Eastern Washington University,” said Bob Ferguson, Seahawks general manager. “The facilities are first class and the school’s cooperation is outstanding.”

In the contract, in which the Seahawks will pay Eastern approximately $330,000 each year, Eastern will provide practice fields maintained at NFL levels, other facilities (training and equipment rooms, classrooms, etc.), on-campus housing for the team and staff, meal service and more.
