Brevard College Tornado Club hosts “Pigskin Pig-out Party” August 11
“We look forward to having Coach Dooley as our special guest at the Pigskin Pig-out Party,” said Collins. “Coach Dooley is a person that western North Carolina football fans will associate with excellence. We are grateful to Tommy Nix, local banker and a member of the 1980 UGA National Championship team, for contacting Coach Dooley and arranging for his participation.”
Dooley is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame (inducted 1994), and a former head football coach (1964 to 1988) and athletic director (1979 to 2004) at the University of Georgia. During his tenure coaching he compiled a 201-77-10 record. His teams won six Southeastern Conference titles and the 1980 National Championship.
A graduate of Auburn University, Dooley has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the U.S. Sports Academy’s Carl Maddox Sport Management Award, an award given annually to an individual for contribution to the growth and development of sports through management practices.
“We are excited to announce this event, and we are extremely appreciative of support and encouragement from the event sponsor, Mountain 1st Bank,” said Brevard College Athletic Director Tom Collins. “They have stepped forward to help spread the word about Brevard College athletics and the upcoming football season. In addition to underwriting much of the cost associated with the barbeque and bands for this event, Mountain 1st Bank has agreed to sponsor schedule cards and posters for the team.”
Tickets to the “Pigskin Pig-out Party,” which includes the barbeque dinner, are $15 for adults and $5 each for children. Tickets may be purchased from Tornado Club members or through the Brevard College Athletics Department at (828)884-8276.
