Seeking a qualified candidate for the position of sports information intern

Hampton University, a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of sports information intern. This is a 10-month paid position, which runs from August 1, 2005 – May 31, 2006. Responsibilities: Provide support and assistance in all aspects of sports information operations including contributing written material for distribution to media outlets, as well as the official athletics web site; serve as the liaison for several of Hampton’s Olympic sports; produce media guides, programs and news releases for assigned sports and maintain files and statistics related to the assigned sports. Candidate must be willing to work evenings and weekends, especially for a number of events including football and basketball games. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required with a major in communications, public relations, sports management or a related field preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent computer skills and knowledge of various software packages required. Experience with Stat Crew systems, Quark software and Adobe Photoshop preferred. Salary $1,200 per month for 10 months. This position is open until filled.
